Azpirasi Dance Group is slowly carving a name for itself in the national dance arena. It was founded by Azmi Juhari in 2000 with less than 10 members. Having performed a number of shows all over Singapore, the dancers have shown an extreme level of commitment and dedication to their craft. With this in mind, Azpirasi Dance Group strives to heighten one's sensorial experiences by exposing the individual to an array of colours and sounds. Azpirasi Dance Group has matured over the years through collaborations with other professional and semi- professional dance troupes in and around the region. What was once just a vague dream of main choreographer and "father", Azmi Juhari, it is now a group that dares to aspire, dream and inspire. Over the years, much has been done to refine and hone its craft and now, we proudly present to you-  Azpirasi Dance Group.

Our Identity

We believes that dance is a language of expression with an infinite number of dialects and approaches the traditional with a spirit of discovery. Great dance culture is only possible with a vital and curious group of audience and performers interested in exploring their own lives and the life of the world around them.

Azpirasi's annual production 'KARYA' - With different and unique theme each year to present our artistic performances, traditional and also contemporary. We have also collaborated with other promising arts group and individuals such as Era Dance Theater ltd, Perkumpulan Seni, Tuju Arts Group, Sri Mahligai and Dzul Rabull Jalil to make KARYA successful. Azpirasi promise you a surpass and a strong advocate performance for every KARYA to come.

We have also involve in numerous recognised productions and festivals such as Mesra's annual production Gentarasa, Esplanade's Pesta Raya (Semarak Muara), Esplanade Presents performances such as Djamal Tukimin recites and Sri Mahligai Concert. Azmi Juhari Choreograph and direct dances in Gentarasa 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2009. As for overseas project we have performed at Festival Zapin Nusantara 2008 Johor Bahru for our signature Zapin Gemersik Ombak which have been accepted in the Zapin Nusantara Archive. And Zapin Gemersik Ombak have also made it all the way to Japan, combine with Era Dance Theatre ltd dancers. In Indonesia, Pekan Baru for Pasar Tari Kontemporer we showcase our contemporary dance entitle Pikul Lah Beban.

If you wish to come and join us, feel free to drop by Yew Tee CC. Training is held every Wednesday and Saturday from 5.30pm-10pm at Level 4 Foyer (Wed) and Level 5 Dance Studio (Sat). Children below the age of 16 years need to seek parental consent due to long hours.
